Slate and Weslyn found their way out of the mountain’s labyrinth with the mysterious book in Slate’s backpack. Weslyn asked Slate to look after Chicken when winter ended. Slate reluctantly agreed, despite the fox’s antics.

At the mountain temple, Weslyn and Slate spoke with Caelus about a quest whose purpose they did not yet fully understand. Their attention turned to the unknown book in Slate’s possession.

Weslyn and Slate climbed into a fierce storm. A sky serpent moved through the clouds, driving them to hurry. When Weslyn fell and was left hanging over the drop, Slate caught him, risking his own footing to pull him to safety.

Amaedrianna continued investigating Dr. Harrow. Dash told Eos that he wanted to bring Lysa back and learn the truth about his father; Eos agreed to help him seek answers.

Two months passed at the Arcanum. Eos helped Weslyn study reincarnation, watching with interest as his tattoos began to merge with the books he read.

Remington confronted Thaddeus Grimstone after his warnings and expelled him from the island. Hatsu and Boreal reunited and began repairing their relationship. Boreal spoke about wanting to contribute positively to the school.

The Council convened at Maleficum’s Arcanum of Magic & Might to hear the case arising from the recent attacks and the fireball that had injured bystanders. The safety of the students and the school’s future were both under examination.

Hatsu spoke about the importance of tradition as the group faced the consequences of Boreal’s attack. The fireball had injured people in the crowd, leaving them burned and covered in dirt.

Hatsu contacted his father about the threats at the Arcanum. They arranged for Ayame Fujiwara to come to the island discreetly and investigate. Hatsu told his companions about the recent assassination attempt.

Amaedrianna followed Lysa through the tunnels inside the Arcanum’s walls. Lysa met strangers in the passages and left without noticing her. Amaedrianna stayed behind to follow the men.

Under the trees on the Arcanum grounds, Weslyn shared a meal with Zephyr, a Zephyrian also described as a Djinn. They discussed dreams, reality, and Weslyn’s connection with magic.

Dash and Lysa slipped aboard the S.S. Omega I. Their search took them through an onboard bakery before they found a man suspended in green liquid.

Eos navigated a maze in her assessment at the Arcanum. Progress depended on using her magic: she summoned purple flames and drew on fear to overcome the obstacles. Her trial ended in a dark, muddy room, where a single flame showed the way.

Eos challenged Dash about what he had been doing on the island. He admitted that he had stolen his invitation from Lysa, believing it would take him to a wealthy person’s home for a heist.

A strange ship appeared off the island. Amaedrianna went to the library to look for information about her past, but found only second-hand accounts and rumours. The people and history of Vurduar were absent from the material available to her.
