The Council Hearing
The Council convened at Maleficum’s Arcanum of Magic & Might to hear the case arising from the recent attacks and the fireball that had injured bystanders. The safety of the students and the school’s future were both under examination.
Thaddeus Grimstone led the prosecution. He argued for strong penalties against the students involved and raised the possibility of closing the Arcanum.
The School’s Defence
Seraphina Lumis and Eldric Wyrmsbane represented the defence. They argued that magical students needed the school and defended its efforts to teach the responsible use of magic.
Faculty and students gave evidence about the incidents and the measures taken in response. The Council considered whether the events were isolated failures or signs of a wider problem, and whether the Arcanum had done enough to protect those in its care.
The Council’s Decision
The hearing ended with rulings affecting the students involved and the school’s operation. The immediate case also left the Arcanum facing a continuing question: how to protect its community while allowing its students to learn to use powers they did not yet fully understand.
