Leaving the Mountain
Slate and Weslyn found their way out of the mountain’s labyrinth with the mysterious book in Slate’s backpack. Weslyn asked Slate to look after Chicken when winter ended. Slate reluctantly agreed, despite the fox’s antics.
Caelus explained that magic reflected change in the world and spoke about following a proper path. Slate and Weslyn were eventually transported back to the Arcanum.
The Totem in the Woods
At the school, Dash showed Lysa her room. Hatsu noticed stick figures, while Dash investigated a heartbeat coming from the woods. Eos burned a totem. A shriek rose around them, and the group tried to flee.
The creatures that emerged attacked. A breath weapon knocked Eos and Dash unconscious; Amaedrianna revived them while Hatsu fought their attackers. When Slate and Weslyn returned, Dash recounted what had happened over tea.
Ayame’s Account
Ayame arrived visibly upset. She said Dr. Harrow had collected the creatures’ hearts after the battle. Ayame had confronted her and been knocked unconscious. The last thing she remembered was Harrow laughing.
