Rooster Teeth Announce New Office and Channel

Rooster Teeth are about to launch a new channel: Funhaus. Funhaus will have some familiar faces on board to run the channel from the new Rooster Teeth L.A. Office. 

Funhaus is a new gaming channel with a new cast consisting of Inside Gaming's Adam Kovic, Bruce Greene, Lawrence Sonntag, James Willems, Joel Rubin, Matt Peake and Sean "Spoole" Poole. You may also know them from G4, Machinima and even Rooster Teeth's own award winning series The Gauntlet Season 2. 

Funhaus will feature the adventures of these seven lovable dudes in our new west coast offices located in sunny Los Angeles, California. They will also make appearances on all the Rooster Teeth content you know and love. Their experience as videogame news people will help The Know, their gameplay antics will be familiar to Let’s Play viewers and you should expect to see them on the RT Podcast as well. And expect a steady invasion of the RT cast on the Funhaus channel as well.

Sony Online Entertainment sold

In a bizarre unforeseen twist, Sony Online Entertainment has been sold. Sony Online Entertainment have been bought out by investment management company Columbus Nova, and as of right now will be renamed "Daybreak Game Company".

SOE—that is, Daybreak—said it will be "business as usual," and that all existing SOE games will continue to operate normally. They expect to have even more resources available to us as a result of this acquisition

The price of the acquisition by Columbus Nova, which in no way sounds like an affordable hatchback, has not been revealed. We've reached out to the former SOE for further detail on what this means for their current and future games.

Xbox One Sells Over 111,111 Units Daily

Since its launch 18 days ago, Xbox One is proving to be the must-have gift this holiday season with more than 2 million consoles sold through to consumers worldwide, averaging over 111,111 units sold per day – a record-setting pace for Xbox. Millions of fans around the world who have purchased Xbox One have shown incredible engagement with the all-in-one games and entertainment system, spending over 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps on Xbox One since the system launched on Nov. 22.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers.  We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions on Xbox Live to date,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing, Xbox.

Xbox One is also proving to be the most popular online multiplayer community for gamers with over 39 million Xbox One achievements unlocked and 595 million total Gamerscore achieved.

“Demand for next generation gaming continues to be very strong,” said John Love, director of video games at Amazon.  “At peak demand, customers were ordering the Xbox One console at over 1000 units per minute on Amazon.com.”

“The Xbox One entertainment system is one of our hottest selling products this holiday season,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising at GameStop. “GameStop is experiencing high demand from our customers for this innovative console and we are working closely with Microsoft to receive more units to fulfill our customers’ holiday shopping lists.”

“Xbox One is one of the hottest Christmas gifts this holiday season and was a top seller this Black Friday,”  said Chris Nagelson, vice president of entertainment for Walmart U.S. “We are refreshing our inventory as fast as we can to ensure customers can give and receive the new console for Christmas.”

THQ Suing EA

THQ is looking to sue Electronic Arts and UFC parent company Zuffa, over the UFC video game license. Until the end of 2011, THQ held the Ultimate Fighting Championship video game license, and due to its financial issues, the publisher was forced to sell the licenses.

Currently, the UFC license belongs to EA, although from January 2007 to early 2011, THQ held the license and produced three well-received titles in the series with UFC Undisputed 2009, UFC Undisputed 2010 and UFC Undisputed 3.

EA and THQ had apparently made "several discussions" regarding a sale of the UFC license, but according to a complaint filed by THQ on October 4th, 2013, in US District Court in Delaware, EA and Zuffa allegedly planned to bring the termination of THQ's licensing agreement with Zuffa for the UFC franchise, and the subsequent transfer of the license to EA.

Zuffa looked to terminated the UFC licensing agreement with THQ due to the company's financial troubles, sending a letter that led THQ to believe that EA had provided Zuffa with the information pertaining to THQ's finances following THQ sharing "internal financial information, including detailed sales and revenue figures for the UFC franchise, and projected marketing expenditures on the next UFC franchise game."

THQ claims that prior to the Demand Letter, EA contacted Zuffa and informed them of THQ's financial condition and expressed interest in acquiring the UFC franchise directly from Zuffa, causing Zuffa to threaten termination of the UFC license.

THQ transferred the UFC license to EA in June 2012, prompting Zuffa to pay THQ $10 million for the termination of the existing licensing agreement, despite it being worth at least $20 million to EA, in THQ's estimations. THQ is deeming the license transfer as fraudulent under US bankruptcy law. THQ is looking to nullify the transfer and recover the UFC IP, and sue for damages of at least $10 million.

THQ also wants EA to "turnover the profits of the UFC franchise," and is looking to the court to disallow Zuffa's bankruptcy claims against THQ, which is roughly $1.96 million.
