The Wandering Isles: Session 22
During the recent downtime, the group found ways to train, reflect, and forge new paths forward.
Eos spent a week deepening her connection to her faith, participating in religious services and learning the importance of balance in her spiritual journey. Her time was also spent talking with Ravynne Creed, finding clarity in conversation, but this introspection led to deeper questions when she touched the Scales of Minerva, which gave her a powerful and conflicted vision. This left her questioning her beliefs and the paths ahead. She also sparred with Amaedrianna Blüdfist during this time, inflicting significant damage but also teaching Amaedrianna how to block her spells, honing both of their skills.
Hatsu Toshitsugu embraced his downtime by delving into his clan’s history, sharing stories of the Toshitsugu lineage with Boreal Paleclaw and Ayame Fujiwara, using these tales to inspire resilience in the face of adversity. He even shared the story of Charles Handier and his connection to Remington Maleficum's father. Alongside his teachings, Hatsu spent time crafting smoke arrows and training with his bow. His sessions with Eos helped her learn how to navigate and practice her skills in complete darkness, further sharpening their connection as warriors. As a token of respect, Ayame gifted him a beautiful ring, a symbol of the Fujiwara clan, offering him a future aid.
Meanwhile, Slate focused his efforts on more practical matters. At Maleficum’s Arcanum of Magic & Might, he collaborated with the school’s staff to prepare meals, an idea that excited Sharkub Commis. Slate also worked closely with Hatsu to strengthen the school’s security systems. Slate’s week also involved deep conversations with Eos about the enigmatic figure Elias and the ever-looming threat of the book they needed to destroy. He also shared a glimpse into his past with Dash Heidmann and partied a little too hard with Gusto.
Gusto, with his mischievous tendencies, spent much of his time in Dash’s room, rifling through his belongings and modifying Dash’s clothes to fit himself. He also attempted to create objects using a magic plate, with mixed results. Gusto’s time was filled with chaos and creativity.
Amaedrianna, Slate, and Eos found themselves working together when they met Krix Redmantle, who aided them in lowering the golden statues into the gardens. Later, the trio along with Lysa Sablewood, took on the task of decorating rooms. Eos, with her usual flair, covered the room in horse dung. Slate added to the chaos by copying Dash’s poetry and Gusto’s failed escapades into decorative form. Amaedrianna contributed tapestries depicting humorous scenes, while Lysa added pink fluffy fabrics, all creating a scene that was a playful nod to their recent experiences.
In one particularly hilarious and elaborate prank, Slate wrote a love letter to Gusto, pretending it was from Dash, filled with grandiose language. Meanwhile, Hatsu sought out Remington Maleficum to understand why Dash and Gusto had been turned to gold. Upon learning of the cure, he went to the statues to help them break free, and although Dash was freed, he was filled with anger and betrayal, storming off in frustration.
The week was filled with a mix of training, introspection, pranks, and unexpected revelations, as each member of the group prepared for what lay ahead.
