Top 5 Quick-Fix Games

I'm going to run down my top 5 perfect phone games for killing some time on those lengthy bus journeys, waiting rooms and general boredom! Disagree with my choices? Let me know your top 5 in the comment section!

5: Where's My Water?: A cute little game that Disney released. The primary objective is to get the water from one point to a sad crocodile waiting to have a shower by removing dirt to form a path. You use your finger to form a path to direct your very limited amounts of water. When you make a mistake you will have to go back to the start but don't let that discourage you, it is highly addictive! As the game progresses there will be more challenges and obstacles in the way a long with many objects to find in the dirt! You can get a free version or a paid version, Obviously the paid version has more benefits but if you wish to try it first then the demo is the way to go! It loses a lot of points due to it's repeatative nature!

4: Draw Something: I have done a review for Draw Something which you can see by clicking here! It is a very addictive game with a simple idea; you draw something! It gives you 3 words to choose from and you must pick one and draw a picture to explain what the word says and your friends must guess what it is you are drawing! As you progress you will collect coins and eventually can buy more colours to allow you to draw better and more detailed pictures! A good way to spend some time, although it does require an active internet connection! There is a free version which is filled with advertising and a limited amount of words but if you fork over the 79c to buy it you will get 400 coins and a advertising free experience! I take points from it due to the fact it tends to give you a lot of stupid words that aren't in the average day vocabulary!

3. Angry Birds: Always a winner for killing time. Highly addictive and can really make the time (and angry little birds) fly! The story is that some little green pigs were told to steal your eggs by their king and your goal is to get them back! Along the way you will collect more birds for your team and with each bird having a different ability it can get quite exciting and difficult! The game can be played for 5 minutes of for hours, it is a great way to kill time! Whilst there are many Angry Birds games I will only link the latest game (Angry Birds: Space) but you can get all of them in the market place! These games lose some points due to the fact that it is sometimes near impossible to get 3 stars in some levels. I have also reviews Angry Birds: Space, you can see that by clicking here

2. Temple Run: This game has me hooked! It's a free game and the premise is simple; Run. Your goal is simply to run as far as you can! You must avoid obstacles and keep 3 manic demonic monkey-like creatures from catching you! You can get power ups which will help enhance your experience and keep you safe, but to do that you must spend some coin! You collect coins as you are running so the further you run the more likely it is you will make a lot of coin! You can then spend it on characters, power ups and enhancing your power-ups to make them do more for you! The whole experience is extremely addictive and you can compete against your friends scores too which makes it far more exciting! It does begin to get on your nerves after a while if you over-play it like I did, but if you play it as a quick-fix then it is beyond perfect!

1. Jetpack Joyride: This game is extremely like Temple Run with the exception that it is a side-scroller. You have just stollen a Machine-Gun powered Jetpack and your goal is to make it as far as possible. You collect power ups and money as you go and you can also collect coins which allow you to use a slot machine after you die which can give you money, bring you back to life or explode your corpse into the distance to give you a higher score! This game has all my attention right now, it is a great distraction! The sound effects are great, the graphics are fantastic and it is an all-round full game to play! I can find no fault with this game!

Draw Something!

My friend messaged me frantically and suggested (Ney, demanded) I get this app and let me tell you now. I do not regret it for one second! It is basically Pictionary. I play it on my iPhone but you can play it through Facebook too. The idea is basically that you get to choose from one of three words and then you have to draw a picture to explain what that word means and if your opponent guesses correctly then you both win coins. They must then draw a picture and send it to you for you to guess. There is no time limit and you can play against friends through Facebook or Username or simply play against a random opponent!

This game is both fun and challenging! Yesterday I got the word "popular" and had to describe it which is near impossible to explain in one picture. Usually you get an option to pick between three words. One easy, one medium and one hard! I find that they usually always give you at least one option that you can definitely draw! What makes the game that bit more fun is that the other player can see you drawing on their screen! This can include you deleting the entire image to start again, But pauses are taken out! If you stop to change colour or do something else, it will ignore that pause on your opponents screen! You can also watch your opponent making their guess which is sometimes quite funny when they start guessing before the picture has completed (and sometimes after).

The game continues indefinitely until someone cannot figure out a picture and forfeits. It then will start over again (on turn 1) on the next turn! There is no real winner as such, it just seems to be an addictive game with a simple premise. I do hope to see updates soon with more words as I've started encountering duplicates and a lack of variety. My friend and I were both playing against my Girlfriend and we both got the same word against her which took some of the fun out of it at the time. Once they resolve the lack of words issue then I'm positive that the game will be flawless!

There are two versions of the game (on Android and on Apple devices), one is an ad-supported free version which just fine, and the other costs the minimum price of an app (79c in IRE , 69p in the UK, 99c in the US) which has no ads and gives you a bonus 400 coins which you can spend on colours and bombs in the in-game store. Colours give you a better ability to draw pictures in more detail and bombs help you get rid of the letters that are not involved in the current word. You get five bombs to begin with but getting more will cost you. It's all those micro-transactions that any game offers to make them a little bit more money.

If you have an iPad then I would suggest playing on that as a large screen is much more suited for a game like this. I generally use my phone to play while I'm on the move and it has been great! I strongly recommend this game! It's fun to play with friends or strangers and it's always worth a laugh! I have to take points from it due to the fact it tends to give you a lot of stupid words that aren't in the average day vocabulary, but beyond that it is a great game!
