Steam have had some pretty heavy announcements lately regarding hardware. They announced a Steam console, and a Steam controller. This is the first real hands-on look we've gotten to date.
Jeff Bellinghausen, and engineer at Valve, is giving us a look at what it’s like today to play several different types of PC games on a prototype version of the Steam Controller. This is the same version that Valve will ship to 300 lucky Steam users before the end of this year.
Portal 2 seems to control like a dream in Bellinghausen’s hands. He seems to have split-second precision and speed with the controller. He is able to turn and stop precisely when finessing the view, acing 180-degree turns while jumping and dropping objects right where he wants them or hurling them onto platforms just so.
The controller itself looks a little different to what I'm used to, but I'm extremely excited to try it out. If Valve wanted to send one out to us to demo, we'd be more than happy! We'll keep you up to date on all things Valve, but in the mean time you can check out the demo below. Make sure you let us know your thoughts in the comments, below!
