The latest trailer for The Division shows off the game's companion gaming feature, in which players on mobile devices can log into and participate in other players' games.

Players can join their friends' games as a drone by logging in anywhere with a smartphone or tablet. We saw a hint of this at E3, but it was never really elaborated upon until now.

The trailer shows how players can play in real time in a friend's game, even if one player logs in remotely from a tablet and can assist the player in the console version of The Division.

Introducing the simultaneous, asymmetric, revolutionary companion application of Tom Clancy’s The Division. Join your team of friends in the game as a drone, from a smartphone or tablet, anytime and anywhere.

Watch the trailer below. You’ll see the game from two perspectives. One perspective is of somebody using the core version, and the other is of a player who has logged in on a tablet. As you can see, the companion app is way more than a simple tool. It fully interacts with the persistent online world in some really incredibly ways.

The Division is out on next-gen consoles and tablets late next year. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
