Star Wars: Battlefront Screenshots, Trailer and Release Date

Since it's teaser during E3 2014, the world has waited with bated breath for any more information on the new Star Wars: Battlefront game. This past week has proven to be bountiful for all Star Wars fans. Battlefront has gotten a trailer, screenshots and release date, which coincides with the digital launch of the Star Wars movies.

The game itself has very little known about it, but here is what we can confirm as of today. There can be full on battles between the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire for up to 40 players.

But in a bold move, the game won't feature a campaign mode, but will instead include crafted missions for solo, split-screen or online co-op play. Overall, the focus will be primarily upon the multiplayer experience.

You'll also be able to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives on-the-fly.

As well as Endor, you can expect to visit the icy Hoth, the deserts of Tatooine and even the lava planet of Sullust (referred to in Return of the Jedi). The best players in a match will also have the chance to let loose as iconic Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader and Boba Fett.

You can storm in as the Dark Lord himself. You can wield a lightsaber. You can Force choke the rebel scum, which is fun. Basically, you are the boss of the battle. This means that you, as Vader, can lead your team to victory - if you play well.
— Niklas Fegraeus, Design Director

Vehicles will also play a pivotal role as always, with AT-ATs, snow speeders, X-wings, TIE Fighters and the Millenium Falcon.

We wanted it to feel authentic to this universe. You can get into these vehicles, from speeder bikes to X-wings, TIE fighters, AT-STs, AT-ATs. There’s a wide range of vehicles that we wanted to realise. The difficulty with a game is that they need to be balanced with the troops on the ground.
— Patrick Bach, Executive Producer

A free DLC level set on the desert planet of Jakku, shown in trailers, will also be available for Star Wars Battlefront, as part of the 'Battle of Jakku' expansion.

You never get to see it in the new movie, so it was this brilliant opportunity to recreate the Battle of Jakku, which you only see the remnants of in the movie. In the game, you actually get to play the Battle of Jakku. It’s the same place from the new movie but 30 years earlier.
