South Park: The Stick of Truth Delayed

South Park: The Stick of Truth was due for release on March 5, 2013, Unfortunately it is now down for release in "early fiscal 2014" which basically means any time after April 1, 2013. During their investor call on Monday, THQ confirmed that their next highly anticipated round of triple-A titles, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2 have sadly been delayed for quality reasons.

Metro: Last Light and Company of Heroes 2 were originally scheduled for early 2013 but have been confirmed for March. Jason Rubin, president of THQ, stated this will give ”both of these titles time to reach their full potential is the right thing to do for the products.” Speaking about South Park: SoT, Rubin said:

“I believe South Park’s market opportunity is significant. It is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated titles of calendar 2013. It is also an expansive title, encompassing multiple television seasons’ worth of content. We have been working closely with the co-creators of South Park, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, to make sure all of the game’s content performs to the high standards of the TV show, and this takes time. THQ is committed to giving gamers no less than the rich South Park game they have been waiting for and deserve.”

Rubin also took a moment to hype games beyond 2013, including a sequel to Saints Row The Third and Homefront, as well as an unnamed project from Turtle Rock Studios. They also confirmed that Darksiders 2 shipped 1.4 million units.

With its original March release date, South Park was in direct competition with huge titles such as God of War: Ascension, Gears of War: Judgement, and Tomb Raider. By moving the game to a later release date, THQ is could be giving the game a better chance, however it will leave some of the die hard fans very unhappy.

We will keep you up to date on any new release dates for any of these titles. Share your grief in the comments section below!
