Smash Bros. New Characters and Delay Updates

Nintendo announced that Palutena, from the Kid Icarus series, will be playable in Smash Bros. for Wii U, 3DS.

Palutena is the 32nd character to join the Smash Brothers character roster. She joins the recent additions of Mii Fighter, Ike, and more. Series creator Masahiro Sakurai previously directed Kid Icarus: Uprising for 3DS. He was also responsible for the redesigned look of Pit in Smash Bros. Brawl.

Smash Bros. 3DS will release on October 3, the Wii U version is expected to ship this Holiday 2014. It will also function with Nintendo's new figurine lineup, called amiibo.

Nintendo also announced Mii Fighters. Players can import Miis and choose from a variety of play styles and special moves.

The Brawler class functions similar to Little Mac, using fisticuffs over weapons. As a Swordfighter, Mii Fighter uses a blade, using moves comparable to Link and Marth. Gunners, using similar powers to Mega Man, Samus, and Fox McCloud, are ranged fighters.

Your can choose four special moves for your customizable Mii Fighter from a list of 12. Mii Fighter is the 31st character added to the Smash Bros. roster.

During its E3 Digital Event, Nintendo announced a delay for Super Smash Bros. for 3DS, pushing out of its planned summer release window and into fall. Smash Bros. is scheduled for 3DS on October 3, 2014. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is on track for a Holiday 2014 release.
