Saints Row IV Receives an Australian Release Date

Saints Row IV will release in Australia in September, distributor All Interactive Entertainment has confirmed.

Australian fans of Saints Row IV will obviously be disappointed with this delay. We have used every means at our disposal to minimise the delay, but unfortunately it just was not possible to keep the same street date as the rest of the world.
— Robert Kingston, All Interactive Entertainment Director

The version of the game coming to Australia will be modified, following the refusal of the nation’s ratings board to pass the game uncut. This was largely thanks to the inclusion of drug use as an incentive or reward, and a large sex toy being used as a violent weapon.

In the Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.

The mission and content have now been removed, amounting to about 20 minutes of cut content. To make up for the delay, a free Presidential Pack DLC code featuring masks and outfits resembling famous American presidents will be offered with all pre-orders.

The open world title will now hit Australia on September 12th for PC and Xbox 360 and September 19 for PS3. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
