Ouya Sells Out, Kickstarter Backers Left Out

Back when the Ouya was just a dream, there was a kickstarted for the console which offered the console and a controller for $99 with a guarantee that there will be one available for you before it gets to stores. The Ouya has sold out completely in America and just gone on sale in the UK and still some people are waiting.

I am pissed. Some of you have not yet received your Ouya - and, to you, I apologise. I did not promise to ship to most of you before we hit store shelves. I promised to ship to
all of you.
— Julie Uhrman, Ouya founder

Ouya is blaming the delays on an unnamed Chinese partner and delivery company DHL. It's unfortunate for them that this was their first major platform and they fell a little bit short, but I'm inclined to believe that this is an overwhelming market and perhaps they just took on too much.

Over the past few months, we encountered and conquered many challenges spanning both hardware and software in order to bring the best product we could to market. We have tried to make sure that the challenges we faced did not impact our early supporters, but unfortunately we came up short.
— Ken Stephens, Ouya head of operations
