We saw a glimpse of the new Hitman game, simply titled "Hitman". The most popular question I've heard is about a reboot. Hitman is not a reboot of the franchise, or a reimagining, it is the next in the series. It follows up from the events of Absolution. The reasoning behind the title because in many ways this is the start of a new journey for Hitman. This will be a pure Hitman experience and the foundation for future HITMAN games.
Agent 47 is at the absolute peak of his power in this new title. He will be powerful and embody the series completely. Hitman is still a creative stealth action game, featuring the greatest assassin out there, Agent 47. As an operative of the International Contract Agency, his job is to take out high-profile targets all over the world, supported by his long-time handler Diana Burnwood.
You will unlock weapons, like in the other games. As you do you can attempt old missions again to achieve a better kill with better equipment. You complete "mastery" challenges to unlock better weapons and tools, thus giving you more options in each section of the game.
Each location in the game is a living sandbox, a place where every NPC has a name and every room matters. Players have complete freedom of approach over how, where and when you decide to take out your target. Creativity from players is fully expected, you have the power and intelligence of Agent 47 at your fingertips and it is your choice whether to use brute force or orchestrate a genuine masterpiece of assassination. The tools are there.
Locations are more detailed, more populated and much larger than ever before, full of things to experiment with and targets to kill without any checkpoint systems in there. Contracts mode, which will be announced fully later this year, returns in this game.
IO have brought back save games, so you can save your progress anywhere. This is a feature that will be important for people when they don't have time to finish those long assassinations.
A new experience will begin on December 8th and IO Interactive will release new locations, missions and hits over time at regular intervals through 2016, which means they’ll all be able to share in the excitement of a new content drop at the same time. Rather than unboxing a game, playing it and then that’s sort of it, they can deliver a true community experience - creating an ongoing and evolving game which plays out with a finale that brings the story arc together. These updates will be entirely free. No season pass or paid DLC required.
A target could appear for every player in the world. It will only be activated for a limited time. Basically, your one shot counts. And when that target is gone, it is gone forever. A shared experience where the Hitman community will come together every time a new mission or new location appears. This will be a good time to join the Reddit forums.
You will also be able to mark your own targets and create your own challenges, like in Absolution. You can select a target, kill it and see if your online friends can do the same.
Hitman launches on December 8th on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC and will reach well into 2016.
