Rome 2 is coming. Start planning next summer around one of the biggest PC franchises. Sega revealed that a Rome: Total War sequel is in the works and it is due 2013.
Sega's announcement promises the series' signature mix of real-time and turn-based action in Ancient Rome, with thousands of troops clashing in stunning detail as you control the vast war machine of the world's first superpower. There will also be a new graphics engine showing of the amazing detail of units and buildings, and new unit cameras to let you see the battlefield from every perspective.
The first couple of screenshots show large naval invasion and detailed soldiers to smouldering cityscape. The Total War series last brought gamers its brand of historical fracas with Total War: Shogun 2 in March 2011 and that game's Fall of the Samurai standalone expansion in March this year.
