New Total War game to be announced at Rezzed

Fans of the Total War series are in for a treat on July 6th as Creative Assembly have announced they will be announcing their next project at Rezzed, a PC and Indie games show in Brighton, UK. Of the show, Total War lead designer James Russell had the following to say: "This year, The Creative Assembly is celebrating a quarter of a century making games. I'll be at Rezzed giving a talk on the making of the Total War series, and showing a sneak peek of what we're doing next.''

As can be expected under such circumstances, speculation, already rife, has now peaked as to the setting of this new game. Details are not so much scant as non-existent. CA have given no information as to the direction the series is taking. Fans are currently crying out for Rome II Total War, which would certainly fit the precedent set by Shogun II. Others are saying the direction taken by recent mid-19th century expansion Fall of the Samurai, which brought the series further forward chronologically than ever before best illustrates the route CA wish to pursue, and are girding themselves for a sort of Victorian era game. Personally, I'm still holding out for Medieval III.
