Rose Byrne Reprises Role in X-Men: Apocalypse

Producer-screenwriter Simon Kinberg says actress Rose Byrne will reprise her role as Moira MacTaggert in the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse.

Byrne's CIA agent character sat out X-Men: Days of Future Past, meaning it will be roughly twenty years since Moira last encountered the X-Men when she appears in the 1980s-set Apocalypse.

MacTaggert will be joining a new cast playing the younger versions of Storm, Jean Grey, and Cyclops, but the main arc of the movie will focus on Professor X, Magneto, Mystique, and Beast. Another thing that is for certain is that the movie will be heavy on '80s nostalgia. "That’s the era that I grew up in," Kinberg said. "The music, the fashion, the videogames: We really want to integrate all of that in the movie, and have it infuse the movie with a different vibe."

She’s a significant character in the movie. We ended First Class with Charles [Xavier] having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.

Although he chuckled and said "Could happen" at the suggestion of Dazzler making an appearance in the movie, Kinberg said the filmmakers are looking at mutants that would fit into the period.

Bryan Singer will direct X-Men: Apocalypse, which will star James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Rose Byrne.
